Pleasure to meet you!

Please allow me to introduce myself…

Translator from the beginning

I was born in Germany and spent my early years in southern France before moving to the United States. Here, I was enrolled in a pre-K program without being able to speak any English. Thankfully, I made friends with the other students and learned the language quickly. Like many immigrants, my life has been a blend of languages and cultures, and I am thankful for the perspectives this upbringing has given me. Because of my background, I have always been translating and bridging understanding gaps.

Science as a lifelong guide

Science has been a significant part of my life since I was young. With both my parents working in the field and my nonstop reading of magazines such as National Geographic Kids and Ranger Rick, I was exposed early to scientific experiments and language. Throughout my education, I enjoyed and thrived in my science courses and extracurriculars. I continue to seek out additional scientific knowledge and understanding. For me, science is not only a career, but rather a framework for how I move through life.

Science and communication

As I’ve continued learning and working in science, I’ve often noticed a gap between science and the public’s understanding and confidence in it. This gap can lead to the rejection of ideas and plans grounded in scientific processes intended to improve public and environmental health and safety. I want to use my skills and knowledge to close this gap by cultivating scientific literacy and fostering the joy of the scientific process.
